Although my husband, Peter, has written a review, I felt that I must also add a few words of praise and appreciation for this marvelous apartment and its owners. Every word of the owner’s description is accurate. Carmo 15 is such a welcoming, comfortable, bright and spacious ‘home-away-from-home’ (with not only a large sitting room, but also an equally-large dining room) that we could easily take up permanent residence. It lacks nothing - not only one of Lisbon’s best locations, but it has all the necessary amenities, including hi-speed WiFi; TV with several channels (including English); two elevators serving the building (the apartment is on the 4th floor); easy-to-use washing machine; large refrigerator; full-size oven & cooktop, as well as a microwave, tub-shower combination (with plenty of hot water); and very comfortable beds! Filipe, the owner, is a marvel - all enquires/concerns are immediately responded to and addressed. We have enjoyed Lisbon, and Felipe’s apartment so much that your ONLY concern might be that we may already have reserved the apartment for the period of time you are considering!

We have stayed in dozens of long stay apartments in Europe, but this one ranks at the top of our preferences. The apartment is large, bright and super clean, located in what we would consider the premier location in the city. Filipe is a gracious and most helpful host. On this first visit my wife and I stayed for three weeks, but even that length of time was not sufficient to fully explore the offerings of Lisbon and its day-trip surrounds. As a result, we are almost certain to return next January/February for a even longer stay - hopefully with some of our adult children. Even compared to our past Mediterranean long-stays, we found Lisbon’s weather to be superb - dryer and warmer. The transportation system is fabulous and the prices are generally much lower than other parts of Southern Europe. We would definitely recommend not only Lisbon, but also Filipe’s gorgeous apartment. We look forward to our return visit.

It was great to wake up in the morning, open the windows giving sight to the old castle over the Lisbon old town and let sunshine in. What a stage for a breakfast! The location is probably the best possible for having holiday in Lisbon. Everything we needed was reachable by walking, shops, bars and cafes. The atmosphere outside the apartment was buzzing with people and music. However the apartment at the top floor was quiet and we got a good nightsleep. All the appliances in the kitchen were in good condition and the apartment was very cosy and elegantly decorated.
I chose the place according to location and good references, and was happy to experience that both were as described, or even better. Previously we have stayed in hotel in Lisbon and this was our first stay in an apartment and we can certainly recommend this Rua do Carmo’s place.

What a great location! This spacious apartment was perfect for our first time in Lisbon. We spent a week and this place felt like home. It is close to everything and had easy access to all of our touring plans.
We were very comfortable in the apartment and had everything we needed. Great WiFi, comfortable rooms, very secure, the essentials in the kitchen, and a nearby grocery store. (I’d only suggest replacing the frying pan.)
My favorite thing about this place is the huge windows — letting beautiful sunlight in during the day and the reflection of nightlife in the evening. The castle is lit up at night so there is always an inspiring view. We opened up the windows to take in more of the street vibe in the evenings - fun street musicians added to our trip! This street is a hub of activity but we also felt like we had privacy.
We had Uber pickups within 3 minutes from the closeby intersection. Loads of great restaurants within walking distance, including the hidden romantic gem, Fabulas, right around the corner.

This an absolutely lovely apartment in a superb location. The description on the website is completely accurate. Filipe is very attentive to all details and most pleasant to deal with from initial booking to handback. His recommendations and guide is excellent. We had a wonderful week and I have no reservation in recommending it to others.
We have stayed at the 4D apartment twice and we are in love with the place.
This premier location is phenomenal and you cannot ask for anything better situated (plus with elevator for all your luggage). Everything is within walking distance and you have the metro across the street plus Armazens do Chiado a major shopping destination. All the best restaurants and shops are just around the corner plus, amazing location for sightseeing.
The view from the apartment is also stunning and it's great to wake up and look out at the water and castle.
Filipe and his uncle are very accommodating and great communication. We had cancelled flights and last minute delays and they were both nothing than amazing at accommodating our ever changing arrival times.
The apartment itself has everything you need including a washing machine which is great for the long stays and a super stocked kitchen. Plenty of hot water for the long showers and amazing air conditioning in every room which makes such a difference in the very hot days in Lisbon. Plus, the apartment itself is huge and so comfortable and it's a welcome change from the tiny units in Lisbon. The windows are double panned so you don't hear any of the hustle and bustle on the busy streets at night and you can just enjoy the evening - or if you prefer, keep the windows open and watch the daily street performances from a premier location up above.
We travel to Lisbon every year in the summer and this has been our number one place to stay. Truly a hidden gem!
May 2016 we had the great pleasure of staying in the most lovely apartment, with lovely views, and great access to everything in Lisbon. We love to cook so would walk to the most amazing market down by the water front. Fantastic fish and prawns, also the most amazing wines from regions all over Portugal.
It's a hidden secret, their wines are the best!!
We will most defiantly return one day. Then we did a circle trip going north and down through the central Portugal. A 3 week driving tour.

My family of 4 had a wonderful stay in this very clean, just as pictured, beautiful, spacious apartment. Filipe was very helpful in getting us settled into the apartment, explaining it and the locations around us. It was fun to look out the living room apartment windows to the beautiful sights and there was always something going on. Shutting the windows and shutters kept out all the noise at night.
Highly recommend, we would stay again.
We stayed in Lisbon for a week in October 2015 and this apartment was a great launching pad for our exploration of the city and a wonderful refuge to come back to for relaxation. As well as being attractive and comfortable, the apartment was stocked with cooking basics, which we really appreciated. The apartment is quiet, but is indeed a short walk from many places of interest, as well as a grocery store! If and when we return to Lisbon, this is where we would want to stay.
It was our good fortune to choose this beautiful apartment for our six days in Lisbon in mid 2015 as it had everything one could need. One arrival we were met by Filipe who explained the workings of the apartment and gave lots of advice on things to do and see. The location is ideal, walking distance to many things, in an interesting pedestrian-only street, quiet at night and lovely views of Lisbon from the fourth floor windows. The place is very well appointed, in excellent condition with full size kitchen and bathroom.
The pleasant ambience of the apartment and its location helped to make our stay in Lisbon a memorable one. We have stayed in a few apartments in Europe and this was certainly our best experience. If we didn’t live so far away we would be regular visitors to this apartment and to beautiful Lisbon.

We stayed at this lovely apartment for a week in 2014. We were met by Filipe, the owner, who was most helpful, well informed & made us feel mist welcome on our first visit to Lisbon. The location is brilliant being centrally located but is largely unaffected by external noise from the pedestrian mall on which it is located. As others have noted, the accommodation is complete with everything you could need & is very spacious indeed. Would we book again if in Lisbon? In a heartbeat!
We had a lovely stay at Filipe's apartment in Lisbon in August 2015. The location is fabulous. It is within easy walking distance to local attractions and excellent restaurants. The apartment is spacious and comfortable with wonderful views of the ocean down the street and the castle across the way. Filipe was a gracious and responsive host. We highly recommend staying here. This is an absolute gem of an apartment and a great base to explore Lisbon. The standard and quality of the furniture and amenities is extremely high and the location means that you can pretty much do many of the sights within the city on foot. The flat is within easy reach of the Castelo, Se, Barrio Alto and the waterfront. Filipe is a perfect host with a raft of suggestions and recommendations for days out, bars and restaurants. We worked our way through the very handy city guide that Filipe produces and thoroughly enjoyed everything. We have rented flats in the UK, USA and various countries in Europe and this is the best ever.
My husband and I stayed in the apartment at the end of August 2014 for a week. From the moment we landed at the Lisbon airport and called Felipe, the owner, we knew we made the right decision. The apartment in in a perfect location on a beautiful street, it is spacious, clean, comfortable, and beautiful.
We had easy access to restaurants, transportation and the gorgeous sights of Lisbon by foot. The grocery store and deli that sells jamon and wonderful cheeses is very close by. Even the neighbors in the building were friendly and helpful.
We enjoyed this apartment very much, and when we come back to Lisbon in the future , we will use it again.

My family stayed in this apartment in May 2015. The flat itself is clean, well equipped, spacious and well appointed for the traveler - washing machine, kitchen equipment etc. The location is the highlight, however. Hours drifted away as we watched the passing parade of locals, tourists, and characters below. It's close to supermarkets, metro stations, restaurants etc, but quiet in the evening. There's also a good stash of maps, business/restaurant recommendations. We strongly recommend the ever si slightly longer walk to Praca de Figeuira to stock up on groceries, including good wines, cheese, meats etc.
I can think of no reason not to chose to stay here, in this beautiful, beautiful city.
My husband, daughter and I stayed at the Carmo Chiado Apartment during the last week of February 2015. I chose this apartment because I had been to Lisbon before and knew this central location was what I wanted. The apartment far exceeded our expectations. The view of the castle is outstanding. Below is the music of the street performers. The apartment was spacious, quiet at night, and comfortable. Everything worked well and seemed just right. Filipe was gracious and helpful. This apartment is part of our good memories of Lisbon.
My family of four stayed at this beautiful apartment back in June 2014. I had never made an online reservation with a private party before and I was very nervous I would show up to find it was all a scam. My worries were needless. Filipe was waiting at the apartment when we arrived to answer any questions we had. I remember remarking how the apartment was even more charming than the photos (spotless with marble floors). Location was perfect with spectacular views of the castle and even glimpses of the ocean. We could walk to restaurants, shops, and take public transportation effortlessly. Some afternoons we would relax in the apartment, listening to the musicians on the pedestrian only street below - but it was so quiet at night when we were ready to sleep. Lisbon was the beginning of our month long trip in Europe and one of the highlights of our trip. The apartment had a great deal to do with our love of Lisbon, as we felt a part of the city rather than just a visitor as we would have if we stayed in a hotel. If Lisbon were not so far from Los Angeles we would be back in a heartbeat - staying in this apartment!
We stayed 5 nights in January 2016. We're usually pretty critical, but this apartment is absolutely fabulous. Huge, beautifully appointed, well-equipped, very quiet (over a pedestrian only street) but absolutely as central as you can get, in a lovely historical building. We walked everywhere, only used public transport to get to the Belem monastery. Filipe is a classy guy, and this is a very classy apartment. We would recommend this place to anyone.
My partner and I had never been to Lisbon before, and did a little research prior to booking our accommodations. This Carmo Chiado Apartment appeared to be the best option for our needs because of its location, space, and value. We absolutely made the right choice. The apartment was very clean, orderly, and had far more space than the pictures suggested. The space is located on the fourth floor of a fantastic structure that overlooks a beautiful part of the city. We loved opening the windows during the day to allow the musical sounds enter the apartment while being secure from the frenetic energy of the street crowds. The space is very peaceful and relaxing inside. Once outside, we had access to hundreds of shops, restaurants, and cafes. We easily navigated this amazing area of Lisbon without a car. Taxis were easily obtained just outside the building. However, one could find plenty to do in this area alone. Lisbon was the surprise pleasure on our vacation to France and Portugal. It is a wonderful city full of culture, art, music, food, shopping, and sights. I cannot say enough great things about the apartment. We will highly recommend the city of Lisbon and this beautiful apartment to family and friends for years to come. The owner/manager of the building was available day and night via phone, email, and text to meet our needs. The apartment contained everything a couple or family would want for a comfortable stay.
